The old kennel had 4 in/out runs.  We added another in May.  Originally (best laid plans!), we didn't intend to bring in any new foster dogs in '99 because we knew we'd be needing all the runs for our own dogs during the house construction.  However, an emergency arose when a puppymill closed that spring.  Eleven Chows needed someplace to go -- where to put them??

The solution was to fence off a large area at the end of the building and divide it into 4 large pens.  Dog houses and decks were installed in each one; Phil ran electricity from the building for individual water bucket heaters.   The dogs seem pretty content with this.  The old kennel will become a storage shed when the building is finished.
