Adoption FAQ

"Smokey" Albany:  Look at this handsome guy!  The Capitol District Humane Association has a beautiful cream male Chow Chow whose owner passed away.  "Smokey" is 4-6 years old and neutered.  He's not used to children and is best suited to an adult home that's had a Chow before.  Like many Chows, he's an extremely loving fellow once he's had a chance to get to know you. His foster family says he's a very quite fellow that ~loves~ peanut butter!   For more information, call the shelter at 518-664-1237 or visit their website.   (10/20/2007)
"Norma" New York City:  New Yorkers For Companion Animals has several Chow Chows for adoption including "Norma", a laidback adult black female that loves going for nice peaceful walks.  She gets along with other dogs and even cats.  She's described as a sweet, gentle, lovable soul.  For more information on Norma and other Chows available, call NYCA at 212-427-8273 or visit their website.  (10/20/2007)

"Simba" Queens, Long Island:  The Pet Adoption League, Inc. has several Chow Chows and Chow mixes for adoption.  718-347-0638  Lil-Lee
"Martha" Middletown:  The Pets Alive animal shelter (now managed by Best Friends Animal Society) has several beautiful Chows for adoption.  One of these is "Martha", a regal looking red female.  She has a nice mellow personality and walks well on leash.  She's spayed and vaccinated, too.   For more information on Martha and several other Chows there, call the shelter at 845-386-9738 or visit their website.  (10/20/2007)
Center For Animal Care and Control Manhattan & Brooklyn, New York: The Centers For Animal Care and Control always has Chow Chows for adoption.  The shelters take in 3-4 Chows a week and are in dire need of adoptive homes for these dogs.   The large number of animals CACC receives on a daily basis means they can't give any of the dogs very much time to find new families. Can you give one of these Chows a loving, permanent home? If you're in New York City and looking for a Chow Chow, please call here first!   Adoption fees are only $60 and include a free vet exam, vaccinations, microchip ID & spay or neuter.   For adoption information, call CACC at 212-722-3620.   Manhattan CACC is located at 326 East 110th Street and is open for adoptions 7 days a week from 11-6pm.  CACC also has several other locations within the metro NYC area.  Click here for locations, adoption hours and phone numbers.     Click here to search the CACC's dog listings.
